There is a city that hides an artificial paradise that is causing a sensation on social media: a gigantic pool with turquoise waters, white sand and a tropical atmosphere that exceeds 15,000 square metres, already becoming one of the hidden gems of summer tourism. This enclave allows you to enjoy two seas, more than 300 days of sunshine a year and a complete network of services less than 30 minutes from Corvera airport.

It could be mistaken for a postcard from the Caribbean, but the truth is that this spectacular enclave is just four kilometres from the Mar Menor. Its image has taken TikTok and Instagram by storm in recent weeks, where thousands of users are wondering if it is real or an image created by Artificial Intelligence (AI). It may look like a film set, but The Lake, as this infinite lagoon is called, does exist. It is the largest artificial swimming pool in Europe, located in Santa Rosalía, a hamlet of Torre Pacheco, Campo de Cartagena.

An oasis in the middle of the drylands

Surrounded by greenhouses and far from the hustle and bustle of the most popular beaches, this colossal project is part of the Santa Rosalía Lake and Life Resort complex, which covers 700,000 square metres. Its main attraction is the impressive lake of approximately 17,000 m², equipped with Crystal Lagoons technology, which allows the water to be kept crystal clear with minimal consumption of resources: up to 100 times fewer additives and only 2% of the energy that a conventional system would use. The lake is part of La Reserva, a large central park covering 124,000 square metres with sports, children’s and recreational areas. Its green areas exceed the minimum recommended by the WHO per inhabitant by five times, and the entire complex is fenced and has 24-hour security.

Sustainability is part of the resort’s DNA, which boasts some 4,000 native plant species and different areas for leisure, sport and family life. Although the star attraction is undoubtedly the swimming pool, two islands, south-facing white sand, palm trees, a jetty, spaces for yoga, paddle surfing, kayaking and beach volleyball areas make this environment a perfect alternative to traditional coastal tourism.

From relaxation to teleworking by the water

In addition to the sports and scenic attractions, The Lake features a beach club with a chill-out terrace, water views and a restaurant area. This space has become a favourite with visitors looking to unwind, as well as those who telework: it has its own co-working area facing the lake, designed to offer calm and productivity.

In addition to water sports, Santa Rosalía has a gym, cross-training tracks and activities such as DiscGolf and AdventureGolf, making it not only a holiday destination but also a great place to live all year round. Its strategic location, less than 5 minutes from the beaches and half an hour from Murcia airport, reinforces its appeal as a residential and tourist destination.
