The dark legend that Ferrari doesn’t sell cars to just anyone is absolutely true. The Italian brand hates several things, including buyers making money at its expense by purchasing a car at one price and reselling it for much more.

Another thing they don’t like at all is when buyers don’t make good use of their cars, which means, for example, that they don’t like them being painted in bright colours or used for drifting in an open field.

You can, you can’t…

It should be noted that Ferrari usually sells its entire production, which means it can afford the luxury of not selling cars to those who don’t want them. In recent months, we have witnessed several regrettable incidents that have not gone down well within the Italian company.

The first occurred over a year ago when footballer Memphis Depay, then at Atlético Madrid, was filmed refuelling his brand new half-million-euro Ferrari SF90 at a low-cost petrol station in the capital. Not only that, but he was filling up with 95 petrol, when this type of car should always use 98…

On the other hand, Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc was filmed buying food at a McDonald’s drive-through in his SF90 XX, something completely unusual, attracting dozens of fans who wanted him to sign autographs after the shop assistant almost fell out of the window to hand him his food through the car window.

We don’t know if the brand was very amused that a driver on the payroll of the firm racing in this year’s GT World Challenge championship would make such use of its cars.

Not to mention the dirty trick played by singer Justin Bieber, who bought a Ferrari 458 Italia and had it tinkered with to unspeakable extremes by a North American tuning car preparer.

Not content with that, the player decided to sell it shortly afterwards for more money than it had cost him, something that, as we have said, Ferrari keeps a close eye on and angers its executives greatly.
